Casio EX-H15 Camera Review

After EX-H10 camera Casio has come up with EX-H15 with advanced features and better performance. Its performance and speed is boosted by Exilim Engine.

The Camera

Cameras of its like are seen to be not so economical, but EX-H15 differs from them. Its price is quite affordable. This 206 grams camera is available in some beautiful colors such as Gunmetal Grey, Brown, Pink and Black.

Features and Specifications

The EX-H15 has an optical zooming capacity of 10x, Digital zooming capacity of 4x and HD zooming capacity of 67.5x with 14 mega pixels lens. The camera captures beautiful pictures of both landscape and portrait style snaps with total 14.48 million pixels.

Focal length

The focal length of Casio Ex H15 extends from 24 to 240 mm. The 3 inch LCD display gives out excellent picture quality in viewing. The video recording done by the camera is in 720p HD movies at 30 fps. The resolution of the screen comes out to be a good 460,800 dots.

Memory

The internal memory of the Casio Ex-H15 camera is 73.8 MB with an SD/SDHC memory card slot for external expansion. The still images are recorded in JPEG format and are DPOF compliant with Exif Version and DCF 1.0 standard version. The moving pictures are recorded in AVI format and the audio in WAV format.

Shutter speed

The continuous shutter high speed is approximately 10 fps at 1280 x 960 pixels. The camera is built with an aspherical lens among 11 lenses in 10 groups. The Contrast Detection Auto focus has AF Assist Lamp with Intelligent, Spot, Multi and Tracking AF areas.

Focusing Modes

The modes available for focusing are- auto (15 cm), macro, super macro (7 cm to 50 cm), manual (from 15 cm to infinity) and infinity. Program AE exposure control with compensation of -2EV to +2EV has been given.

The exposure metering is multi pattern, spot by imaging element and centre weighted. There are two types of shutters in EX-H15 which are- CCD electronic shutter and mechanical shutter.

Recording Functions

White balancing types in the camera are- Auto, daylight, overcast, shade, manual and tungsten. The camera has been set for CCD shift image stabilisation with various recording functions such as- premium auto, make up mode, landscape mode, handheld night scene, lighting function, face detection, dynamic photo, art shot, multi motion, YouTube capture mode, self timer, auto shutter, time and date settings and monoaural microphone and speaker.

Performance

The camera is provided with Lithium Ion NP-90 rechargeable batteries that can take 1000 still images that perform quite well. The zooming capacity is a big plus point of this 102.5 x 62.1 x 29.3 mm camera.

The average size of an image is about 8 MB. The photographs clicked in the day light give out warm and pleasing tones with no harshness. At maximum wide shots minor definition losses were observed. The pictures were seen to be very sharp with ISO 64 as its broad light sensitivity range.

In a nutshell
