Setting Up Your Projector for the Next Big Sporting Event
Projectors can really come in handy for any kind of sporting event and the consensus is, the bigger the screen you’re watching it on, the better.
You can set up the projector to create the illusion of a giant television without losing the depth and definition that old projectors could not offer. They’re great because you can have as big of a screen as you want, allowing you to have a huge party with all of your friends and family having first row seats.
If you are setting up for a huge sporting event, here are some basic things that any party needs!
Using Your Projector to Watch the Game
Make sure you have your projector set up in a safe part of your room before people come over. You don’t want people walking in front of it to where those watching lose their vantage point so make sure it’s set up somewhere that displays the content on the screen the most optimal way, but allows guests to walk around the roof if necessary. Don’t take any chances – you don’t want your projector to get bumped or knocked down.
Also make sure you have gone through and taken the right steps to ensure your projector care is current. This means;
- cleaning off all of the dust or dirt that has built up from storage.
- clean off the bulb so that it’s nice and bright when you need it most.
- don’t touch your projector bulb with bare hands as it can cause damage which can burn out the bulb much quicker.
- turn on your projector to make sure it’s lined up and bright enough for everyone to be able to see.
- leave it on beyond the minimal number of minutes recommended by your owner’s manual before us.
If you set up your party right, having a projector can be the biggest advantage your party has over the others. You can have more guests, lots of fun, and a greater amount of detail in the picture your guests are watching – you create an environment that your guests will want to return to.
I recently published a full ‘how-to’ on proper projector maintenance which you should generally follow if you want to ensure it’s in perfect working order.
Getting everything set up ahead of time gives you more time to enjoy not only your guests, but also the sporting event you are trying to celebrate. There’s no use arranging a party when you’re not personally going to enjoy it.
So take a few minutes ahead of time to get it all set up so you can sit back, relax, and root for your home team. Those few minutes can lead to a party that you and your guests can remember for many years to come!
Here are some extra details you may want to consider when arranging a sporting event with your friends or family:
Great Food and Beverages
Let’s face it. No matter what type of sports you enjoy, the right food and beverages at the ready help make the party even better. Now, if your favourite team is losing, this may be the saving grace of your get-together!
Make sure you have foods that are easy for your guests to eat and drinks that are easy to clean up after, in case they get spilled. Have lots of plates and cups handy so that no one is wasting valuable watching time searching around for those basic necessities.
Plenty of Comfortable Seating
Using a projector allows you to have many more guests than most televisions can comfortably host. This means you need to take the time out to plan out the seating for your party. If you invite 20 people but only have seating for half, your projected image is not going to be enough to keep everyone comfortable.
Be creative. If you need extra seating, consider using coolers as a seat for some of the younger people who have come to the party. This keeps the drinks handy and cold, and gives 1-2 people a place to rest while watching the game. You can also rent chairs or even ask your neighbours for a few (make sure to invite them if you do!).
So get on it! If you’ve got a decent projector laying around, why not take it out and throw a sporting party? If you do it right it’ll probably be the best home sporting even your friends and family ever attended. Good luck!
